As summer approaches the drought season starts. I have gathered some excellent tips on how to save water. of course not everyone will be sensible enough to use them, but each person that does makes a difference and of course saves you money on your next water bill.
- Place a bucket in the shower unit when showering and use it to flush the toilet.
- When you brush your teeth don't leave the tap running.
- Students should take a bottle of water with them to drink at school as most of the water from drinking fountains is wasted.
- Use a bowl to do the washing up in and use the used water to flush the toilet with.
- If you have a dishwasher don't use it, if you do have to use it, and I don't know why, make sure it is completely full before starting it.
- Don't flush down if there is just urine in the toilet, wait for the bigger jobs before flushing.
- Turn the tap on just half pace when you wash your hands.
- Use a broom to sweep your drives instead of a hose.
- Don't wash your bicycles, just give them a damp wipe.
- Take a short shower instead of a long one.
- If you need to water your garden, use rainwater that can be collected from gutter downpipes leading to barrels.
